NCC Responds to Offer of 9Mobile to 'Blessed Bidder'

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday rejected reports affirming that a favored bidder has been blessed for the procurement of telecom mammoths, 9Mobile.

This is contained in an announcement marked by its Director of Public Affairs, Tony Ojobo.

He demanded that the procedure for the securing of 9Mobile is as yet progressing.

Ojobo said Barclays Africa stayed in full control of the procedure prompting the development of new proprietor for the organization.

The announcement peruses: "Our consideration has been attracted to daily paper productions claiming that a favored bidder has been blessed to obtain 9Mobile and generally guessing on the result of the proprietorship exchange process.

"For the shirking of uncertainty, we wish to give the accompanying illumination and refresh on the procedure:

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Thursday expelled reports claiming that a favored bidder has been blessed for the obtaining of telecom goliaths, 9Mobile.

Ojobo said Barclays Africa stayed in full control of the procedure prompting the rise of new proprietor for the organization.

The announcement peruses: "Our consideration has been attracted to daily paper distributions affirming that a favored bidder has been blessed to procure 9Mobile and generally guessing on the result of the possession exchange process.

"For the evasion of uncertainty, we wish to give the accompanying elucidation and refresh on the procedure:

"Barclays Africa stays in full control of the procedure prompting the development of another proprietor for the organization. Barclays has not approved any distribution on the issue and is obliged to keep up full classification subsequently.

"An endorsement of the demand for expansion of time by the 9Mobile Interim Board was given by the two controllers – NCC and CBN. This set the due date for the receipt of restricting offers from the forthcoming bidders till sixteenth January 2018.

"As opposed to theories that a 'victor' will be declared around the same time (i.e. sixteenth of January 2018) we wish to clear up that Barclays is required to audit the offers got by the due date and make proposals to the 9Mobile Interim Board from there on.

"The NCC and CBN will be properly advised once the 9Mobile Interim Board acknowledges Barclays' proposals and a triumphant offer is resolved as per the terms of the activity."
